March 10, 2010. Nationwide strikes to shut down Greece

Greek unions plan to launch nationwide strikes on March 11th that will shut down all public services, close schools, customs and tax offices, halt public transport, and ground flights for 24 hours, media sources reported on March 10th. Teachers, journalists, state hospital doctors, and air traffic controllers will be among those striking, while police, firemen, and coast guard officers will join protest rallies. The workers are protesting the government's proposed austerity measures.
