March 10, 2010. Dalai Lama claims China seeking to destroy Buddhism as security forces remain on alert for anniversary

Speaking from India's Dharamsala, the exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama claimed on March 10th that China was trying to annihilate Buddhism in his annual address commemorating the March 10th failed Tibetan uprising against the Chinese government. The announcement came as Chinese security forces increased their presence in Lhasa, Tibet region's capital, and other areas of China with large Tibetan populations to prevent mass protests or violence.
