Anambra state Governor Peter Obi was reelected in a deeply flawed election seen by many as a prelude to the presidential elections of 2011, reports indicated on February 8th. About 300,000 people participated in the elections out of 1.8 million eligible to vote, as gangs of youths, some wearing uniforms and carrying weapons, harassed voters and captured three ballot boxes. Thousands of voters reportedly could not find their names on voting lists, with no indication of which party manipulated the lists.
